Camp Koolaree has been the scene of transformational change for hundreds of campers, leaders and staff since 1932.
In 2013 we encountered an enormous financial crisis, but with overwhelming support were able to pay off our debt in full and continue operations at Camp Koolaree. The past 2 years have been a bit rocky, but slowly but surely we have been making positive changes. This year we have a fundraising goal of $50,000 for our 2016 Dining Hall Restoration Project. This will include new appliances, the roof being re-done, footings under the dining hall replaced, electricity brought to the kitchen [only] and a few other small things as well.
2015 is surely the year of change for us. We have increased marketing and advertising and have already seen a substantial increase in rentals (9 booked this year already, while last year we had only 2). Last year we saw a mere 72 campers register in total, but we already have over 50 registered for this year’s camping season.
Our financial goals are huge this year, as we would like to move from a working board to a policy board and can only do this by hiring someone to do the management/advertising/marketing/business planning.
It is our goal to make this experience available to everyone. The “Camp Koolaree Campership Fund” is to support campers who otherwise could not afford to go to camp by subsidizing their camp fee. In 2018, 21of our 85 campers required financial assistance. With 21 campers needing assistance, we granted $6,825. We received $1,600 in camperhip donations, leaving us $5,225 short.
An additional $6,000 in donations would enable us to continue to provide a camping experience for these needy campers. We are asking our local communities to come together to sponsor families. Your donations are much appreciated.
