Hello Koolaree Community!

We have some sad news and an explanation for why registration is still closed — Over the winter, the camp board hired an engineer to assess the state of the beloved Dining Hall and Kitchen at Camp Koolaree. Because of the results of this assessment, we have decided to demolish the Dining Hall and Kitchen this year and replace them with a temporary Kitchen and Dining Hall. We are still planning to have Camp this summer, but things will look a little different.

We will work over the coming year to replace the Dining hall and Kitchen with a new building that fits right into the camp and will house many yummy breakfasts and monk’s dinners for years to come.

Saying Goodbye to the Dining Hall

We are working on a plan for folks to be able to take part in saying goodbye to the dining hall. We have talked about livestreaming parts of the demolition and having a work party to clear out the dining hall and kitchen ahead of time. If you have other ideas, please let us know, and if you have dining hall or kitchen stories or pictures, please send them to us. We will put them together to share with the broader community.
