Camp Koolaree Declares a Jubilee Year
The Board of Directors at Camp Koolaree
has made the difficult decision
to pause our usual summer camps this year
due to several logistical issues.
While this decision was not made lightly, we see this as an opportunity to reset, reconnect with our Koolaree community and allow the land to rest and recover after several years of major construction.
In Christian and Jewish traditions, every 50th year is a Jubilee year, during which debts are forgiven, people return home to their families, and the earth is left to rest. We’re embracing this summer as a season of reflection and reconnection. It’s a time to draw on the rich legacy of past years, nurture our community in new ways, and prepare for an even stronger future.
To do this, we are offering some new camping opportunities:
Camping at Rock Lake
Rock Lake camp near Jaffray, BC, has graciously agreed to partner with Camp Koolaree and allow Koolaree counsellors and campers to attend their camps. They offer camps for children aged 8-14 during the weeks of August 10-15 and August 17-22. Bussing will be provided for all Koolaree campers who are making the trip to and from Rock Lake.

If you are interested in volunteering or signing up your child for Koolaree at Rock Lake, please fill out this form so that we can be sure to include them in the bussing.
Summer 2025

Family and Friends Camping We will be hosting family and friend camping days over the summer. This is an inexpensive opportunity to come to Koolaree and camp out. Food will not be provided, but accommodation and limited kids’ programming will be available. Click below to receive more information. |
Work Party Camps We will be doing lots of restoration work on site over the summer, replanting and repairing, and hope to combine this with some fun camping time. Learn new skills, make new friends (or reconnect with old ones) and play a vital role in keeping Camp Koolaree thriving for years to come. Join the Koolaree Team We are looking for volunteers to help with the administrative and visioning work of making camp happen. This could mean joining the board or just being part of a committee, depending on your availability, interests and skills. If you’re interested in learning more, click below, and a member of the board will be in touch. |
Although we understand this may be disappointing for many Camp families, we’re excited about the opportunity to reconnect in new and meaningful ways this year and to return even stronger next summer.
